Can Food Allergies be the Cause of Your Symptoms or Illness?

Food Allergies / Sensitivities:

Generally people think of allergies as a histamine reaction to dust, molds, and pollen, yet, food allergies / sensitivities can be the cause of your symptoms or illness.

When I was a child, the allergies we reacted too were dust, molds, and hay fever or peanuts. However, more children are now experiencing food allergies at a young age, similar to adults. Their immune systems are much more sensitive due to the toxic load we have in our environment. Many children are allergic to milk, especially pasteurized milk. It can be the cause of ear infections or repeated colds. Some children were scheduled for ear tubes, and the mom was looking at alternatives. When the child either stopped milk or switched to raw milk the repeated infections went away and in many cases the ear tubes were not required. I personally don’t think we need milk past the age of two or three and since there are many alternatives, I would recommend making or buying almond milk or rice milk – a much better alternative. Cheeses don’t seem to pose the problem that milk does.

The cause of your Health Condition:

Food allergies / sensitivities can be the cause of many health conditions. Foods that pose the most challenges are grains & gluten/gliaden (wheat, barley, rye, oats, spelt, kamut), dairy (eggs, milk, cheeses), citrus (mostly oranges), corn, sugar, soy, nuts, night-shades (tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, eggplant), shellfish, preservatives, artificial colorings and flavorings, and yeast (baker’s and brewer’s). Don’t let this list scare you, unless you are very ill, you are probably only allergic to a few of them. And, once you regain your health, some of the allergies go away.

Food allergies can compromise your immune system and can be a contributing or main cause of many diseases or imbalances such as:

  • anxiety
  • arthritis
  • asthma
  • autoimmune diseases
  • colitis
  • concentration problems
  • depression
  • fatigue
  • headaches
  • high blood pressure
  • high cholesterol
  • hormonal disorders
  • irritable bowel
  • joint pain
  • mental problems
  • skin conditions
  • sleep disturbances
  • reflux
  • sinus problems
  • weight gain or loss

Carlsbad Mineral Spa

Website: http://www.carlsbadalkalinewater.com

2802 Carlsbad Blvd, Carlsbad, CA 92008

760-434-1887 www.carlsbadmineralspa.com

I recently visited this spa and am thrilled about their water. www.findaspring.com lists this water source and other locations you should check out. I visit them every 3 weeks and have 6 three gallon containers. Benefits. Better body chemistry, sleep better, enter dreaming state easier, good detoxifier or acidity – very therapeutic.

They suggest drinking 16 oz. upon arising from bed to detox from the night before, then 15 minutes later another 16 oz. to hydrate. You can put lemon or lime or greens in it as well to detox, then hydrate. I think it works well. I drink another 16 oz. late afternoon and love it. Thought you might like to try it as well, so I am passing on this information to you from the spa:

Pure Therapeutic Alkaline Water Made by Nature, Not by Man

Exclusive, therapeutic and hydrating Carlsbad Alkaline Water™ comes from an 1,700-foot-deep aquifer that originates near Palomar Mountain, about 60 miles east from Carlsbad. It takes about 9,500 years for the water to work its way through the substrata to our artesian wells just one block from the Pacific Ocean. Along the way, it is naturally enhanced with minerals that turn the water into a highly alkaline, therapeutic, and healthful water.

Carlsbad Alkaline Water™ is not filtered municipal water. It flows naturally into our artesian wells from the deep aquifer. It is sodium free, noncarbonated, not fluoridated, not chlorinated, highly alkaline (not acidic) and exceeds FDA bottled-water quality standards. It has about pH 8.7 and a TDS 50. Our well and vending machines are licensed by the California Department of Public Health and monitored and tested weekly, as required by FDA and federal, state laws.

Our customers feel the positive health benefits from therapeutic Carlsbad Alkaline Water™ and they drive as much as 80 miles one way. We have many customers from Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Alpine and similarly distant locations who make the trip because they have experienced health benefits from our alkaline water and how soft, smooth, clean, and delicate our water tastes. Thousands of local customers come pick up our alkaline therapeutic water from our convenient vending machines.

Carlsbad Alkaline Water ™ is so unique and therapeutic it has been proclaimed “The Most Healthful Water” by the California State Senate, and our artesian well and location have been designated by the California legislature as both a California Historic Site and a California Historic Monument. The city of Carlsbad has named the Carlsbad Artesian Well a Carlsbad Historic Site. And the “North County Times” newspaper has called our water “Eden in a Glass.”

Nowhere else in the United States can you find so unique natural therapeutic alkaline water with pH 8.7 that tastes so good and has such a positive effect on your health.

Delicious Alkaline Water at an Affordable Price – $0.50/Gallon (Note: alkaline water made by machine still has chlorine, fluoride and according to this spa loses its falsely made alkalinity in a day or so… Never like the machine made alkaline water.

Many companies use chlorinated municipal water from drug and chemically polluted rivers, pass it through reverse osmosis, then bottle it and sell it as a magic water with endless claims at highly inflated prices. Other companies sell under the sink reverse osmosis or water coolers with built-in reverse osmosis for use in businesses and promoting it as a “Go Green” campaign. All the reverse osmosis machines waste 3 gallons of precious water for each 1 gallon of water produced to drink and the water is highly acidic, unhealthy.

Cities across the country are implementing water conservation programs while reverse osmosis units and coolers with built-in reverse osmosis negligently waste a tremendous amount of our limited natural resources. You have the peace of mind that our water vending machines and our bottled water use therapeutic Carlsbad Alkaline Water™ from our artesian well and our vending machines are cleaned, inspected, and maintained daily unlike the water vending machines outside of supermarkets and other stores that are cleaned only every two to three weeks. These supermarket vending machines use city water with reverse osmosis that produce unhealthy acidic water.

Carlsbad Alkaline Water™, healthful, therapeutic, and filtered by Nature, is available at our historic Carlsbad Mineral Water Spa at 2802 Carlsbad Blvd., Carlsbad, Calif., for only $0.50 a gallon at our self-serve, stainless steel vending machines. Before each fill you can give your bottle a sanitary ozone rinse for only $0.10.

You may use your own containers or get water – grade containers from us

1-gallon of Carlsbad Alkaline Water™ in our self-serve vending machine only: $0.50

Drink healthy water and be healthier!

Castor Oil Packs – Liver Detox

CASTOR OIL & FLAX OIL PACKS:

Castor Oils Packs are also popular done over a specific site, such as the liver to draw out deeper toxins.

You use a flannel cloth soaked in either castor or flax oil and place it over the site you want to detox, i.e. liver, one kidney at a time, a painful area, abdomen, neck, etc., and follow by placing saran wrap over it and then a heating pad. Leave on the site for 20 – 30 minutes, then remove. Wash the flannel for future use. This really pulls out toxins that cause aches and pains. For more information on our detox programs, see our detox and cleansing programs page.

Detox Tips: Parasites and Water, Breathing, Exercise

DETOX TIPS: PARASITES & CHEMICALS

Most people have parasites and we are all exposed continually to chemical toxicity. There are many fine programs that will support you of banishing these unwanted guests in your body. I offer several in my office. One is for the upper GI tract and one for the lower GI tract. Works great and should be done every six months and for a week after eating sushi.

DETOX TIPS: WATER & FIBER

Drink ½ your weight in ounces a day of water, herbal tea, green drinks, teeccino or a light juice drink where you mix 1 part of real, unconcentrated fruit juice to 7 parts water. And, your body requires 35 – 50 grams of fiber a day to cleanse your system and to help with bowel movements. Your blood is 70% water, so it is critical to keep it moving – not sluggy, which causes all sorts of problems.

It is optimal to have a good source of water either in a whole house water purifying system or a sink water purifier and shower filter. I recommend Aquasana, which you can get by going to my website and clicking on the Aquasana banner – you get a discount. Your morning shower, without a filter, is like drinking 6 – 8 glasses of tap water with chlorine and fluoride – drying to the face and body, as well as a myriad of other toxins. You can also fill up a water picture from your shower to use during the day if you don’t have a sink filter.

DEEP BREATHING & FRESH AIR:

Proper breathing oxygenates your blood and helps your body to detox. It also keeps you calm and relaxed and moves your lymph even better than jumping on a mini trampouline. When we become anxious we breathe shallowly and this gives us headaches, lack of focus and toxicity to our body.

Being out in the sun without sun-glasses helps tune your brain and nervous system. Minimum requirement is for 30 minutes a day. After that you can put on the sunglasses if you choose. Sun is very therapeutic to our bodies. We have lost contact with nature – sadly. It has been proven that simply standing on the ground (dirt – grass) with our bare feet unclumps our blood cells quite nicely. We wear rubber soled shoes which unfortunately grounds us and we lose the natural contact we require with the earth’s schumann waves. These waves used to go up 4 feet high and now they are only 1 ½ feet due to electro-pollution and more. There is even a tree-huggers society that believes being near trees is advantageous to our health – they are correct. So get out in nature – form a new habit for your health.

EXERCISE:

  1. There are now many articles that say we are exercising too much – amazing. The truth is that we are if we are doing heavy exercise one or more hours per day. That is not the way our body is programmed. The best exercise is some weight bearing exercise to keep our muscles and bones healthy and our lungs strong. 10 minutes a day is all that is needed and this can be done by doing work around your home. Studies have proven the best exercise is to sprint 100 steps, then walk 400 steps – a 1 to 4 ratio and only for 20 – 30 minutes. This reportedly does more good for your body than the heavy exercise that is being done. More peoples adrenals are overwhelmed by too much exercise.

MICROWAVE OVENS:

Microwave ovens alter the cellular structure of your food, rendering it unsuitable for to eat. It also causes the food to be carcinogenic in nature. The nutritional qualities of the food are destroyed, so that you are basically eating empty calories that are toxic. Just Google “against microwave ovens” and read about the detriments.

Detoxification Programs

More chemicals, pesticides, xeno-estrogens, drugs (medical and otherwise) have been introduced into our world in the last 20 years than all years of the world’s existence. Our bodies were not created to accommodate this and thus disease, stress, obesity, and many medical conditions previously not seen are increasing incrementally. The heart attack and cancer rates were almost unheard of in the early 1900’s and now they are so common that 1 in 2 -3 is reported to get cancer. It is not surprising that doing a detoxification two times per year is highly recommended to maintain your health.

DETOX PRODUCTS:

I offer several detox products and procedures in my office and will put together a detoxification program that will work specifically for you. A whole body detox is preferable, and a liver cleanse each six months is critical to your overall health as well. There is a one day liver cleanse that many of you have already and a mini liver cleanse that consists of making a concoction that tastes like a spicy pizza sauce one morning per week for 8 weeks. I also just brought in a liver cleanse that consists of a shake and two different supplements that you take for 21 days – deep cleansing and regeneration for those that cannot fit the traditional liver cleanse into their schedule. There are many detox techniques that I share with you when you come into my office.

EDS ~ EAV ~ Electrodermal Meridian Screening & Testing

EDS stands for ElectroDermal Screening. EAV stands for Electro-Acupuncture according to Voll, a German Scientist. Both mean the same thing. I use a German Energy Medicine device which I think are superior. I lightly touch a point near your fingernails and toenails of your body, where your meridians start or finish. This accesses the conductivity of your organs and systems. A perfect reading is 50 – 58. Acute is over 58, Chronic is below 50, and a sliding reading – from high to low is an indicator drop which shows a loss of conductivity.

I love EAV. It provides information on many levels:

  • It screens your supplements and indicate if they are beneficial or not. Helps in selecting the best supplements and spending money on only those that support you.
  • It indicates how many pills of a supplement is required to balance the meridian.
  • It screens foods for sensitivities to that food.
  • It screens viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens from vials I have
  • It screen various parts of the body, including the brain, organs and intestines ~ important foci.
  • Because it is True BioResonance, it helps with minimizing drinking if you are NOT an alcoholic.
  • It helps to eliminate the desire to smoke.
  • It work with allergic sensitivities to animals, pollens, etc.
  • It uses body secretions, urine, tears, etc. to balance specific issues.
  • And, it works with emotional issues ~ amazing.

With my EDS (electrodermal) Wavemaker Pro system I screen your meridians and it provides information as to which systems are out of balance. ie. Lymph, circulation, hormonal, liver/gall bladder, small and large intestines, nervous system, etc. A program is instituted to help you regain health by using homeopathics, nutritional products and detoxing if necessary.

This program is rewarding because it is easy and it works!

Are Your Supplements Making You Sick?:

When I received my first EDS system I tested my supplements and 6 out of 8 I was allergic to. Dr. Darrell See, MD, Endocrinologist of UC Irvine, did a study with over 200 supplements and found that 97% were toxic. I have found typically 50 – 75% of what my clients bring in to toxic. Purchasing supplements that benefit you costs less and keeps you healthier.

Using High Quality BioResonance:

At The Natural Health Centre, I use the Electrodermal Screening WaveMaker Pro device to bring about balance. Food Intolerances are part of your DNA and this is where Genetic Typing for the best nutritional plan for you is vital.

Many EAV devices only take readings, they do not provide energy back to the your body. This is a critical difference!

INTRODUCTION to BIORESONANCE ~ELECTRODERMAL SCREENING WaveMaker Pro:

All life is made of energy. Humans tend to think of themselves as relatively solid creatures. We are a mass of compressed energy. We emit our own electromagnetic fields and we each have our own unique “vibration”, or oscillation. This oscillation can easily be measured with electronic equipment. When we are healthy, our bodies produce a smooth, regular oscillation. When the body is under stress, the pattern becomes jagged and irregular.

It’s a therapy to keep your eye on. “Is it the future of medicine? Yes, absolutely ~ AND it is here NOW!”

BATHS:

Baths can draw out toxins and relax you at the same time. Simply put 2 cups of Epsom Salts (magnesium) and ½ cup of baking soda in a bath (not too hot) and soak for 15 minutes. Drops of an essential oil can be added for therapeutic purposes as well. This can relax achy muscles and provide magnesium to your body at the same time, which is relaxing. I have other wonderful bath soaking minerals and products in my office and will soon have them available on line.

TOOTHPASTE:

It is best not to use toothpaste that has fluoride or a list of ingredients that you do not recognize. Fluoride is toxic to the brain and does not eliminate cavities. Glycerin is another substance that should not be in toothpaste as it coats the teeth with a sticky substance and helps provide a breeding ground for bacteria to grow. It is difficult to locate a good toothpaste. Most often I recommend brushing teeth and gums well with just good water and following by using a waterpik with a capful or two of hydrogen peroxide in warm water. I now use baking soda to brush my teeth with followed by ½ tsp. of xylitol (birch derived – not corn) in the evenings to keep my dental hygiene balanced.. Xlear, has a xylitol based toothpaste which is excellent as well.

FOOD CHOICES:

DIET:

Diet is critical in bringing about balance to the body. The typical American diet is not healthy. We have one of the highest mortality rates in the world, currently ranking 27th!! We are advanced in putting forth an array of junk foods, which do not nourish the body. Eat empty calories, crave more food, more chemicals in the body equates to more disease! Sugar causes mood swings and feeds the bad bacteria in your body, weakening your immune system. It also keeps your body acidic in pH value and it is impossible to heal and become healthy in an acidic state.

We eat mostly dead foods. The five whites in the diet should be eliminated or greatly minimized: ie. Wheat, Pasteurized/homogenized Milk, Rice, White Potato and Sugar. Wheat is so adulterated that is has virtually no nutrition, and it is bleached with Chlorine! Due to genetic modification it now has 5 times the gluten it had in the early 1980’s.The food companies tell you that the flour and other prepared foods have been enhanced with vitamins to make you healthier, yet the synthetic vitamins they use are not absorbable by our bodies and often create another toxic reaction for our body to contend with. The five whites and other starches turn to sugar in those that crave these very foods. Remember wheat is pasta, cereals, breads and my favorite pizza – which I no longer eat.

Raw milk is a nutritious food and many who are intolerant of milk can drink raw milk as it has a full complement of enzymes to help you digest the milk and many nutrients to enhance your body. Cow’s milk is acidic, whereas Goat’s milk is alkaline – so favor goat’s milk cheeses. Many states now allow it to be sold. Now I know you are not going to eliminate the five whites from your diet totally, but do yourself a favor and eat them seldom or never.

BREAD & SUGAR:

The best bread to eat is an organic sprouted bread based upon your GenoType. Manna bread is a whole food sprouted bread that has no refined flour. These breads and are available at Trader Joe’s, who also has a rice tortilla that is quite good. Use Stevia, (Sweet Leaf), a natural herb fromSouth America, to sweeten foods instead of sugar. It does not upset the glycemic balance, (blood sugar), in your body.

Another wonderful sugar is Xylitol. It is expensive, but we are certainly worth it. It is a unique sugar, which does not raise blood sugar, and has good bacteria that fights tooth decay and bad bacteria. A good web site is www.xlear.com if you cannot find it in your health food store. Xylitol is made from wood as is Xlear, beware that other copycats now provide the same type of sugar from corn, which is now mostly Genetically Modified, not to mention this would not be good for those who are allergic to corn. So read the labels and when in doubt email the manufacturer – don’t be afraid to ask.

VEGETABLES:

It is best to eat raw organic vegetables of many colors in your diet. They are filled with minerals and enzymes. Minerals are catalysts that make hundreds of enzymes work in your body. When this process happens naturally then we are able to utilize our vitamins more effectively. The phytonutrients in them also keep us healthy. Raw is preferable as the enzymes are destroyed at temperatures above 118 degrees, which includes all cooked food. Organic foods have 3-4 times the amount of nutrients in them as the regular supermarket foods. Please know that it takes time to adjust to a new way of eating, so do your best. Shop at organic farmer’s markets, at Trader Joes, Henry’s, Mother’s Market and Whole Foods as they support better nutrition and offer organic products. Please note that these markets have an array of junk foods as well!

JUICES & WATER & Omega 3:

Eliminate most juices – just too much sugar in the system at one time. One fruit at a time is enough sugar for us. An option is to squeeze the juice of one orange, lemon or lime, into a glass of water. Or you can peel an orange, place it in a blender with one cup of water and stevia or xylitol and you have a healthy drink, including the fiber, which slows down sugar absorption. Lemonade made this way is great hot or cold. You can obviously do this with other favorite fruits as well. Another great fruit is cranberry, which aids in cleansing the kidneys and liver. Buy whole juice – not from concentrate and dilute it one part juice to 7 parts water per the label – available at Trader’s. Another great cleanser for the system is to put 1- 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (raw with the Mother), Bragg’s is a good brand, in a glass or bottle of water, add stevia to sweeten and sip. Great arterial cleanser and weight loss aid as well.

You are 60-70% water. Now this water needs to be changed each day, otherwise you become toxic! Guzzling water creates a river through your body and taxes your kidneys, so take 3 to 4 gulps at a time. Many say that you require water in ounces equal to ½ your weight in pounds. That means if you weigh 100 pounds, you require 50 ounces of water. Take into consideration the amount of water in fruits and veges. One way to monitor this is to check the color of your urine. It should be a very pale yellow, not bright or dark or with a strong aroma. If you are supplementing with B vitamins, this will naturally turn your urine yellow. So, do the body calculation for water and drink it in divided doses during the day. Also, it is best to drink only ¼ cup of fluid with a meal as it waters down the food you have eaten and the body thinks it is more digested and passes it on too early to the small intestine. Undigested food basically ferments / rots and provides a thriving ground for bacteria, parasites, etc.

When I do EDS screening on my clients, I notice sometimes that my client’s hands are dry and yet they do drink enough water a day. What is happening here is that they are not absorbing it, and / or they do not have enough good fat in their diet in the form of good natural raw fats/oils, i.e. coconut, avocado, olive, macadamia or nuts. When a client does not drink enough water during the day it is difficult to get an EDS reading as the clients overall body conductivity is too low – not good for your health.

Krill oil is the preferable form of omega 3. Grass fed beef, not finished on grains, is also extremely high in omega 3’s – higher than in fish! Pacific Northwest Salmon is an excellent source as well.

MEATS:

Meats should be free-range with no hormones or preservatives and no antibiotics. Hormones and antibiotics disrupt our body in many ways. They are used in cattle to fatten them up. Unfortunately they show up in our bodies as excesses that lead to imbalances and weight gain. If you eat red meat, it is best to get grass fed beef. Cows eat grass, not corn, grains or soy. Note that cows are fed this to fatten them up. These types of grains are often stored in silos or piles and frequently develop molds, which we also eat when we eat this type of beef.

www.texasgrassfedbeef.com sells grass fed beef. There are other sites on the web, but make sure that they do not finish fattening them up by feeding them grains for the last three months, which is very typical. Grains turn to sugar in our body.

The Lamb in the stores is mostly raised inNew Zealand, where they do not allow hormones or antibiotics, and encourage grass feeding, which is natural and honors the animal. Grass fed meat is leaner and has a higher concentration of CLA, which can help you lose weight if you are overweight. Grass fed beef is also higher in natural Omega 3 fatty acids than fish, and without the mercury toxicity.

ALLERGIC FOODS:

Allergic foods can swell the brain and/or make us irritable. Allergic foods are looked upon as toxins in our body, so the immune system ends up being compromised for up to 72 hours. It is important to do the EDS screening in my office to make sure which foods to avoid. Another good way to tell if you are allergic to a food is to do a simple home allergy test which is as follows: On an empty stomach, or three hours after a meal take your resting pulse and record it, then eat the food you want to test. Wait ten minutes and if your pulse has increased or decreased by 8 to 10 beats or more, your body is experiencing an allergic reaction. You can check your pulse again at the 20 minute interval as some people’s metabolisms are slower to respond. Avoid that food. You can test 3 to 4 foods per day this way.

PROTEIN & CARBOHYDRATES:

Protein helps the brain focus; while carbohydrates quiet the brain and can calm us down or make us feel lethargic and tired, if we eat the wrong ones. Starchy carbohydrates and simple carbohydrates, (junk food), contribute to the lack of focus. Balance your diet with meat and produce, and eat frequently if you have a blood sugar imbalance. Always eat protein with some carbohydrates. Many are on high protein diets and that is as bad for us as the once popular high carbohydrate, low fat diets we were on a few years ago.

It is important to select low glycemic load fruits and vegetables to add to our diet. They offer excellent nutritional value as well as fiber. Fiber is necessary to eliminate toxins from our body and for proper elimination. It is a challenge to get fiber in our standard diet. Coconut flour is high in fiber as is White Chia Seed, Glucomannan, Flax and a mixed salad. Raspberries are high in fiber as well.

Cook with coconut oil or macadamia nut oil, which are the best oils you can cook with. I get the EPCO coconut oil as it does not have a coconut taste as does the Virgin coconut oil. Coconut Oil and Macadamia Nut oil have high heat points and do not go rancid. Coconut oil is good for your thyroid, metabolism, is anti-bacterial and generally a good healthy fat to add to your diet and on your skin. TheTexasgrass fed beef website sells macadamia nut oil by the gallon and it is great. Check your GenoType for the best oils for your type.

SOY MANIA:

Soy is in everything. Read the labels. There is only one mayonnaise that has no soy that I have found at Traders – yet it has Canola Oil which stands for CAnadian OiL – they just added an A at the end. It can be a combination of many oils, so don’t be fooled. Best to make your own mayonnaise or use organic sour cream. No one eats as much soy as the North Americans do. There are numerable studies that show that soy hurts the brain, especially in infants and young children and the elderly. Soy inhibits over 43 enzymes in the body and affects the thyroid. It disables zinc, which is one of the key minerals in the brain. It also disables many of the other critical minerals such as magnesium for the heart and calcium for the bones, which are calming to the brain.

The four soy products that are ok to ingest are miso as in miso soup, tempeh, soy sauce (tamari is real soy sauce – others are made from wheat!!), and natto as they are fermented and as a result no longer have the bad aspects of soy. Fermented products produce a healthy digestive tract – very important! Soy also disables a key enzyme in the thyroid, which can cause hypothyroidism in unsuspecting people.

Japanese people eat the equivalent of 2 teaspoons of soy in tofu or fermented form a day. It is typically in a fish broth, which helps to disable some of the bad attributes of the soy. Their fish broth is made from the whole fish. They do not drink soy milk, put soy in their eggs or eat soy mayonnaise, nor any of the other concoctions we have invented! Nor are their cattle fed soy to fatten them up! One of my Japanese clients found what Americans do to soy completely hilarious.

WATER:

Remember, what you put on your skin goes into your bloodstream!!! Read the labels – do the research!

Your morning shower can be detrimental to your health. You should have a shower filter that removes most toxins and chlorine. The best I have found is from Aquasana, who also has a great glass drinking bottle. Simply go to my website: www.naturalhealthctr.net and click on the Aquasana logo and it will take you to the correct site to order – this gives you a 20% discount! A short shower is equivalent to drinking 5 – 6 plus glasses of tap water – not recommended!! AND, your hair feels wonderful as a result of using a more balanced water. They also have a whole house water system as well as a sink system for drinking water.

GETTING THINGS DONE

This past year I hired One Coach to provide guidance in growing my business. One Coach is headed by John Assaraf of “The Secret”. I heard him speak at CEOSpace, a weeklong training session I did inLake Tahoelast March. Trainings are now held atLakeLas Vegas– much warmer! Call me if you want to know more about CEOSpace!

I was impressed with his calm demeanor, and his ability to hone in on what needed to be done. He was a combination of “logic” and “spirituality”. I was interviewed and matched with a fabulous women coach fromMichigan. Over 8 coaching sessions, I was able to see a larger picture for my business and put together strategies that make my business run better and be more profitable.

Here are a few tips:

  • At the beginning of the day – or the night before, write down just three things that need to be done the next day – just three. My initial to do list was long and I never seemed to get it all done which is overwhelming, frustrating and self-sabotaging. To my amazement, I got my three things done and then added one thing at a time if I had extra time. Feelings of accomplishment are uplifting – and you complete more things.
  • Delegate to free up time. I hired a person to do Quickbooks, an Accountant to do my taxes, hired someone to come in one time a week to do filing and things that I don’t like doing. This increased my level of energy.
  • Do money making activities first. Focus on where you can increase streams of income. Making a list of possible money makers is a good place to start. Defining how much money you want to make and then plan how you can attain this is fun. Have short and long term money making goals. I am starting to form a non-profit corp., so I can have a large health center.
  • This one is from me. Incorporate fun things into your life. I decided to go to Glen Ivy Hot Springs one time per month – what a treat. Take one hour to read something fun each day, go shopping by yourself, go somewhere you have always wanted to go for a few hours, try a new hobby, try a new recipe or eat at a new restaurant. It is too easy to just stay stuck. Celebrate who you are in your own special way – plan it and do it!

Your life is like a trip. If you plan on how to get to your destination you win, otherwise you remain lost. Plan and Act.

Good Foods & Foods that Don’t do a body good!

I am so grateful that I have a reference point of a time in my life when most of the food that was consumed was healthy.

I grew up in New England, north ofBoston, near the ocean. The food in our grocery store was mostly grown locally.

There were no pre-prepared frozen meals or foods.

We ate foods from our garden each spring and summer. Our mom or grandmother canned fruits, froze fruits and veges in season, & made soups from scratch. We went to berry farms and picked strawberries and blueberries.

There were no “light” foods: yogurts, ice cream, milk (you took the cream off the top if you did not want the fat)

There were no preservatives in our foods or in us!

Our milk was raw and fresh from the dairy, no soy milks, sugary almond or rice milks.

No soy – mostly genetically modified now.

Our flour was not bleached or enhanced with make-believe vitamins.

No, Aspartame (brain toxin), splenda (liver toxin), saccharin or other imitation sweeteners.

No flavored miracle waters, no energy bars, no low-fat foods, no imitation foods.

One person in any of my grade school or high school classes may have had ADHD, ADD, Autism, etc. Mercury fillings, toxins, pesticides, vaccines, alcohol consumption from the parents or family, chemicals all play a roll in these disorders. Mercury fillings were started in my generation – as were a very few vaccines – bad choice.

Many of the toxins had not been discovered or used yet. Most were introduced in the decade of the 90’s.

Our water was either from wells or much safer local water from natural ponds that were monitored. Now we have Chlorine, fluoride, and so many other bad chemicals to keep us safe. (???)

We did not have the obesity we do today. Not just because of the foods, but no toxic build-up to create fat, no soy or metal fillings to wreck havoc with your thyroid and metabolism, no prepared high calorie foods to make you gain more weight. Our natural foods had the nutrients to satisfy us and not make us want more.

And yes there were a few negatives too. The beginning of the foods prepared outside the home included: Wonder Bread, Twinkies and lots of baked goods – yet these foods did not have all the preservatives they have now. And we had margarine – not good.

So what are we supposed to eat?:

People ask me this weekly. How do we cook when we are so busy? How do I de-stress? How do I make more time to cook? How do I get healthy? How do I lose weight? Why do I have these aches and pains or rashes?

The Answer:

Well, my answer is we need to get our life back. It does take time to stop at the fast food restaurant. The calories are more and the foods include more preservatives, less nutrition, are fried in rancid oils and mostly soy oil. Really what does it take to put a chicken or steak in the oven along with a potato, sweet potato or yam, or stir fry a few veges or cut up a salad, or make more rice than you need so you have leftovers, or cook more and freeze enough for another meal. Or try eating more raw foods – just cut them up, add some spices and oils, and make sure you get enough healthy protein of your choice. We need to get our life back. And we need to get our health back – and getting back to healthy basics is the answer.

How do you test / screen for food Allergies / sensitivities?

Skin Prick and Blood Tests:

Often these have not proven conclusive or accurate. Frequently if the food being tested was not eaten within 24 hours of the test it will not report as an allergen – and this is a painful procedure.

Food elimination diet:

With this program you eliminate all suspecting foods for three weeks, and then add one food in every three days to see if you react to the food. This is time consuming and frustrating.

Electro-Dermal Screening:

A simpler way to screen for food sensitivities is by using Electro Dermal Screening. I use a German computer that screens each food on the allergy meridian of your body. This method is powerful and when the reading goes to 50 you have sensitivity to that food. Now there are two types of sensitivities; one is at the DNA level – your blood type can assess for this, or it can be a sensitivity that has built up because you eat the food too often, or if your immune system is weakened you can become sensitive to more foods. This will improve as your diet does.

Want your Life Back?:

Knowing your optimal diet is crucial to good health and vital to your energy level. When my clients eliminated their sensitivities they report being able to lose weight, mysterious rashes disappear, their energy level in increased, they don’t feel angry, depressed or anxious and they can focus. The bloating in their abdomen is gone, they can see better and are not stuffy. If your body is always fighting an invading food it cannot do the job of using its resources to keep you healthy.

Regaining your health and vitality:

Having a food sensitivity screening for many it is a wake up call to eat a better diet. Getting back to eating whole, healthy foods, preferably more raw foods in their diet and less pre – prepared foods is best. Eliminating the preservatives, artificial colorings and flavorings go a long way to recapturing your health. And knowing your genetic and blood type is critical as well. You get the complete picture and can be assured that what you are eating is optimal for you.

Doing a food sensitivity screen is fun and informative. I even have clients bring in specific foods they want tested. I do have many test kits, yet sometimes it is best to bring in something you suspect you might be allergic to.

Bonus:

Electro Dermal Screening can also determine if the supplements you take are optimal for you and/or if you are allergic to them – so bring in your supplements as well.

Hydration / Water ~ Critical to Your Health

Why is water important?:

If you have not read Dr. Batmanghelidj’s book, Your Body’s Many Cries for Water where he talked about curing painful conditions and serious diseases with the application of water, then go buy yourself a copy. Hydration is a key to your optimal health.

In his book he says:

“Your muscles that move your body are 75% water.” (think muscle pain relief)

“Your blood that transports nutrients is 82% water.” (think sludgy blood, high blood pressure, stress on your heart, etc.)

”Your lungs that provide your oxygen are 90% water.” (think clear headedness, being aware and energetic).

”‘Your brain that is the control center of your body is 76% water.” (think about your ability to focus.

“Your bones are 25% water.” (think flexibility)

And in all the above situations, think detoxification and the ability of your body to rejuvenate itself as a result. We live in an extremely toxic world, so this is very important. Make sure you hydrate your body and cells.

Disease: the elderly are at risk:

I often think about the elderly, who barely get 2 – 3 cups of liquid a day. Their blood becomes sludgy; they are often not clear headed; they are not detoxing and get brown spots on their skin; they have strokes, heart attacks and come down with many diseases. Simply increasing what they drink can make a significant difference in their health and their energy levels.

How much do you really need?:

I generally share with my clients that they should drink one half their weight in ounces of water a day. If you weigh 130 then it is optimal to drink 65 ounces of water.

Often my client’s immediate response is, “I can’t drink that much or I don’t like water.”

So let’s define what water can be. Herbal teas, lemon or lime in water with stevia, organic coffee (if it is on your Genetic Food List and this should be limited to 2 cups a day as it is acidic).

My grandsons love Raspberry Tea iced. I simply fill a 2 quart pitcher with good quality water and put in 4 tea bags and stevia to taste. No need to Steep. Put it in the refrigerator and it is ready in about 30 minutes. Think of all the varieties of herbal teas there are.

Kombucha is a great alternative as well. I make it at home and have the recipe if you want it. I usually have an extra “scobey” if someone needs one.

I don’t recommend drinking milk. Kefir is fine and there are other fermented drinks depending on your genetic type.

If you like orange juice, then simply put one orange in a blender, add 1 cup of water and stevia to taste and blend. Otherwise, pouring a glass of orange juice is a sugar assault on your body. Typically there are 4 oranges in one glass of oj – far too much fructose for your body to assimilate at once. Wonder why you feel sleepy/tired within an hour?”

Cook some raw cranberries and put them in the blender with water and stevia as well. Other fruit can be used in the same way. You can use seltzer water if you desire a sparkly beverage.

Most fruit juices are loaded with sugar. An 8 oz. soda is about 8 teaspoons of sugar and fruit juice is the same.

Plan what and when to drink:

This is another tough part. Unless I prepare for the day, I don’t drink enough water.

Recommendation: First decide how much you need to drink.

Have two cups of liquid upon arising, ie… a mug of lemon/lime water to cleanse your liver that has been detoxing while you sleep. Then follow with another 2 cups of herbal tea. Drinking this much is easy as you have been dehydrated all night.

Then have breakfast. Two hours later have another 2 cups, then lunch and 2 hours later another 2 cups, then dinner and 2 hours later 2 a relaxing herbal tea to prepare for bed and relaxation. You need to wait two hours after a meal so you don’t predigest your food. It is best to have only ¼ cup of liquid with meals. Remember, the amount you drink should be adjusted to how much you weigh.

Remember soups count as liquid as do some veges and fruit you consume.

Some alternatives to stevia are lo han sho, xylitol, raw organic sugar (just a little), or a little raw honey occasionally.

Hydration – an Important Key to Your Health! Drink up!

Leptin ~ Stop cravings and over-eating

Homeopathic Leptin – Metabolic and Satiety Factor for Weight Loss

Leptin’s Function

Leptin instructs neurons in the hypothalamus to signal you that you are “full” which is why leptin is referred to as the ‘satiety’ factor. Leptin signaling leads to suppression of hunger urges and curbs eating desires. Leptin is involved in stimulating metabolism and regulating thermogenesis through process called lipolysis / fat burning.

What does leptin do?

  • Signals that you are full and suppresses hunger urges.
  • Hunger Urges and Cravings are often eliminated/diminished
  • Minimizes or eliminates over-eating.
  • Insulin and Leptin Resistance is becomes balanced.
  • Visceral Fat Metabolism (thermogenesis) is turned on to burn fat.

Hunger and Appetite Control?

Leptin activates the pathways which tell the body it is full, and suppresses pathways which stimulate appetite. It supports you in eating less of your desired food and the reward is diminished weight gain and even increased weight loss. Best taken 5 to up to 60 minutes before you eat. The initial loading is the effective part. I took it every day for two weeks and that seemed to reset my hypothalamus. Then take it as desired, paying attention to your body and eating style. If you are going out with friends to eat, remember to take it with you. It not only works, but is a good reminder to help you stay focused…. make it part of your new lifestyle.

How does Leptin work?

There are two types of cell receptor site signaling, one is molecular, the other is electro-physiological. We are electrical beings and our meridian system signals and recalls a memory after a triggered event – like a smell or taste from childhood. The bio-electrical signal is sent via the nervous system to the leptin cell receptor sites in the hypothalamus, which is the appetite control center of the brain. This triggers the positive responses to suppress hunger urges and to signal a sense of feeling full.

In many people this switch is faulty and needs to be turned back on to become effective. Some people are never full, while others hardly need any food to feel full. Some will eat a full bag of potato chips, but when Leptin is sprayed in your mouth, you are completely satisfied with 5 or 6 chips. The food stops calling to you.

Reward from taking Homeopathic Leptin.

Many diet and regain weight. Some are emotionally hungry while others are never full. We are a stressed society and food is not only nourishing, but emotionally nurturing for many, causing over-eating issues. Food does that for us, especially when our relationship does not.

By using the Leptin Spray, you can take back the responsibility you have always desired over food. You will still enjoy it, but now the hunger switch is finally working and signals that it is full. Homeopathic leptin is useful in weight reduction programs. I have added it to my Genetic Type diet program and some will use it with the Genetic Typing program and my hcg homeopathic for accelerated weight loss. A real winner!

Detoxing and cleansing your liver and gallbladder is a critical first step. I use a combination of herbal, homeopathic and tinctures as well as a flush to so the cleanse. A healthy diet, including adequate water and fiber, healthy foods, as well as high quality detox and supportive supplements are important.

Toxins

Toxins affects your immune system and deteriorate your health. Car exhausts, chemicals, pesticides, heavy metals, poisons, xeno-estrogens, hormones given to livestock are in the meat and poultry we eat, antibiotics, radiation and poor water quality overload our bodies.

Heavy metals from our diet, environment, mercury amalgam fillings, and metals from crowns can affect the nervous system and disrupt organ and brain functioning.

Liver and Gallbladder Cleansing

Cleansing your liver and gall bladder of debris and gallstones dramatically improves your health. Allergies, rashes, pains, stomach issues, intestinal bloating and various symptoms often disappear or minimize after cleansing.

Your liver makes 1 – 1 1/2 quarts of bile a day which your gallbladder stores. The liver is full of tubes which become clogged. Bile digests fats and helps to handle viruses, bacteria and other toxins. People without gallbladders can do a liver gallbladder cleanse tailored to them, and should be on a daily fat digestive supplement to stay healthy.

Note: There are times when a liver cleanse / flush is contra-indicated, so please check with me or your health care practitioner to rule those out.

Next ~ Whole Body Detoxification

Once the liver is cleansed, we continue by cleaning the Kidneys, Lymph, Small and Large Intestines and interstitial areas, and by addressing Candida, Heavy Metals and Parasites.

Detoxing with the flow of the body is wise. 90% of your cells are commensal cells which feed your human cells. Doing colonics wipes out your commensal cells, which are not replaced, so I do not advise doing colonics. Going with the flow of the body is natural.

As these areas are cleansed it makes room for fat to release toxins. Toxins often create fat to store in making it difficult to release weight.

Cleansing is a Critical Process and Important to Your Optimal Health!

Magnesium: It does a body good!

The mineral of the month is Magnesium, which is the mineral of the muscle – the heart being the largest muscle in your body. Magnesium is a relaxer, not only of the muscles, but of the mind – it can calm you down. If you are having heart palpitations it can help regulate the heart into a normal beat. Magnesium is often used in the emergency room in intravenous form when someone comes in with a heart attack or life threatening arrhythmia – irregular heart beat. It is also responsible for over 300 enzyme functions in your body – yet most Americans are deficient in it. Often we take supplements with calcium and magnesium as a combination. Yet, recent studies state that we may be taking too much calcium which can cause calcification of the muscles and arteries. We often get enough calcium in dairy products and in some vegetables, yet we simply do not get enough magnesium in our diet. Milk of magnesia is magnesium and is famous for helping with constipation. Too much can cause diarrhea although magnesium glycinate will not do this. It is also in the form of Epsom Salts and you can use 2 cups to 1/2 cup of Baking Soda in a bath to sooth tense or fatigued muscles. Your body absorbs the magnesium and you can relax. Try this before bed or when you are stressed. Light a candle and just let go. If you have cramps – menstrual, leg cramps, feel aggravated or overwhelmed take 200 mg. of magnesium and relax those muscles. Before doing physical or strenuous work it helps to take 200 mg. of magnesium and 400 mg. of gaba. Gaba also helps you to relax as it is an inhibitory amino acid – calming. Your body will love you for it. I sell both in my office. Adding magnesium to your diet can support you if you experience any of the following conditions:

  • ADD
  • angina
  • anxiety
  • asthma
  • autism
  • chronic fatigue
  • constipation
  • diabetes
  • fibromyalgia
  • headaches
  • heart palpitations
  • high blood pressure
  • high CRP Levels
  • inflammation
  • Insomnia
  • irritability
  • irritable bladder
  • irritable bowel syndrome
  • kidney stones
  • menstrual cramps
  • migraines
  • muscle cramps or twitches
  • obesity
  • osteoporosis
  • PMS
  • reflux
  • stress and sensitivity
  • trouble swallowing

The typical diet is deficient in magnesium. We eat mostly processed food which includes white flour, processed meat and dairy which have no magnesium. While it is beneficial to eat healthy protein and dairy it is also crucially important to eat your fruits and vegetables – salads of many colors gives you a rich start at getting your magnesium. Organic is best with an increase of over 3 times the minerals. Eating nuts, greens and beans is also important. Some other foods high is magnesium include almonds, avocado, beans, brazil nuts, brown rice, buckwheat, cashews, collard greens, dandelion greens, dates, dulse, figs, filberts, garlic, millet, pecans, rye, shrimp, parsley, walnuts, and wheat bran and wheat germ. Also taking a multiple vitamin / mineral combination is important. Be sure to check your levels of Vitamin D3 which also helps you to absorb your magnesium, Vitamin B6 and Selenium. The RDA of magnesium is about 300 mg a day, but many need between 400 – 1000 mg depending upon their condition. I like magnesium glycinate as it does not cause diarrhea, but other forms of magnesium which are beneficial are magnesium citrate, glycinate, taurate, aspartate, chelates (malate, succinate, fumarate). Avoid magnesium in the forms of carbonate, sulfate, gluconate, and oxide as they are not absorbed well. If you have kidney disease or heart disease you should consult your physician prior to taking magnesium. If you have any of the above symptoms you might want to give magnesium a try!

Mercury Detox and Heavy Metals Detoxification

HEAVY METALS (Mercury, etc.)

Heavy metals can cause numerable problems. Silver (mercury) amalgam fillings, should be removed by a biological dentist only. Mercury and metals can upset the transmission processes in the brain and organs. There are several excellent dentists located just across our border, who charge much less for dental work. They will bill your insurance, yet you must pay at the time of your visit. There are also a few dentists locally who do not believe metal should be in the mouth. I do have a program for metal detoxification that can be used before or after you have the metal removed from your mouth.

It is best to have fillings and crowns that are pure porcelain. One brand name I recommend is Diamond. Other white fillings can be just as toxic to your system as mercury as they contain petroleum products and plastics. Diamond crowns sell for $500 each in Mexico versus $1200-1500 in the US. See www.biologicaldent.com Dr. Ezequiel N. Lagos, is the owner and his center is certified by Dr. Hal Huggins www.drhuggins.com. I also have a list of So. Cal. Dentists approved and trained by Dr. Huggins – just call my office. Dr. Huggins was one of the first dentists to expose the dangers of heavy metal toxicity. See his site before you have any dental work done. He will even do a phone consult or email consult for $30, which is worth it. He does not recommend root canals.

Heavy metals are implicated in many neurological disorders and detoxing from heavy metals is critical to regaining your health and staying mentally alert with a healthy nervous system.

I do a heavy metal/mineral hair analysis in my office. It is sent to a lab for analysis and provides a lengthy report on recommendations for bringing your body back into balance. This is an important test – my clients love the information they get. Metal toxicity can be at the root of all medical problems and should be removed from your body correctly by a biological dentist trained in the proper procedure.

Mud Pack Detox Detoxification Program

 MUD PACKING

For years, one of my favorite detoxes, which can draw out toxins and pain, has been a mud pack detox. I once had my teeth cleaned by a dentist who used a laser and left with a dull pain on one tooth that would just not go away. He said the procedure did not cause it and two other dentists said nothing was wrong. Hmmmm.

So after trying many things for months, I remembered the mud, which I applied to my jaw, around my ear and neck and waited 15 minutes, then washed it off. My pain went from a level 8 to a level 3. That afternoon I repeated the mud packing and viola the pain was gone. Mud pulls and helps to drain toxins. It frees the face from toxins and keeps your face young looking. Many of the commercial products on the market do more harm than good – so beware.

The process of mud-packing has been updated and it is mixed with other nutritional items to not only pull out toxins and pain, but it additionally helps to bring the body back into a coherent energy field. This is determined by testing several points on your body to locate energetic weaknesses and blockages and tests to determine what is needed to balance. I recently went to an updated class on the advanced procedures and was pleasantly surprised to learn about the new techniques. It is fun and rewarding to play with mud.

One Diet does NOT fit all – Natural Weightloss

Just mention the word “diet” and people immediately think “fad or low calorie diet” for weightloss. What about your regular diet? Is it supporting your health? How do we eat healthily and attain weightloss? How do we maintain weightloss? – keep the weight OFF, get our energy back and feel great too?

Some say vegetarianism or being vegan is the only way to eat. Macrobiotic diets and Paleo Diets are said to be the answer. For me Vegetarian /Vegan diets zap my energy, while Macrobiotic Diets put me to sleep. My type needs protein and many colored veges. Some of my clients are fatigued on the same diet that makes me feel vibrant and energetic.

Every body is different. We are different blood types, with different flora in our “gut” according to Dr. Peter D’Adamo, the originator of the Blood Type Diet. Genetic Typing makes sense. There are 3 recommended eating plans for each blood type, AND can be customized depending upon your issues. Some people have to watch grains, others sugars and some both.

Some of my clients complain that they are always fatigued. The answer for some is to eat meat, while the answer for others is to eat less meat. When we honor and listen to our body it works and we become more energetic, focused and happier.

Lectins:

Initially Dr. D’Adamo tested each of the four blood types with all the common foods. One food was placed into a petri dish with blood of each type. If the lectins in that food caused agglutination (gluing together of the blood cells), it was not good for that blood type. Think of all the implications of sticky, slow moving blood. Blood clots, heart attacks, stroke, etc. Your blood is 70% water!!!

Lectins in food can cause:

Inflammation of the digestive tract lining.

Interfere with digestive process, causing bloating.

Slow down the rate of food metabolism, don’t efficiently burn calories.

Or can speed up your metabolism into overload.

Compromise the production of insulin.

Hormonal imbalance, causing water retention, thyroid disorders and other problems.

Weight gain.

Dieting:

O / B can do higher protein diets. Grass fed meat and organic poultry and fish is preferable. Lots of vegetables are equally important.

A / AB cannot do higher protein diets. It can cause anxiety as they don’t have the abundance of stomach acid the O’s and B’s do to digest the meat. Poultry and fish are recommended and lots of veges.

Enter Genetic Typing – Working more with epigenetics:

With Genetic Typing, there are three possible diets for each blood type. Some of the blood types overlapped, mostly because of your heritage and the ancestors before you. This is a combination of blood types and body measurements which reflect our ancestry.

In Genetic Typing Alleles are measured with your blood and the various foods. Alleles are genetic traits you have specifically inherited and part of your DNA, which define you more infinitely than the blood type.

There is also a software program that will extend the type you are to include SNP’s (DNA predispositions), physical conditions you might have (high blood pressure, low blood sugar, diseases) to further refine your diet. I do this in my office with your first consultation.

Knowing your Genetic Type is foundational to good health. Weightloss can be attained easily. One man’s food is another man’s poison!

HCG and Genetic Types for Weightloss:

I tried the HCG homeopathic program in my office last year. Sadly not having some good fat in your diet can cause hair loss, fatigue and brain fog and is dangerous with only 500 calories for up to 30 days. The food list was incredibly restrictive as well. So when I redesigned the program based upon the Genetic type nutritional plan, I found Success!

Winner Combination:

The diet consists of 1000 calories from the person’s Genetic Type and uses the HCG for 10- 12 days only. Typical weightloss is 6-8 lbs. Then you follow with your normal Genetic Diet, introducing good fat back into your diet for 2 or more weeks and return to the dieting phase again. This works amazingly well and you are eating per your type! On the two week program you still lose weight since you are eating foods that boost your immune system and your body is working more efficiently. There are many tips I give my clients to make the program fun and successful.

When trying to lose weight I also check for the following:

thyroid

adrenal performance

hormones

toxins

heavy metal accumulation

stress levels

In my office, I do the measurements, and determine your blood type if you do not know it. I can use software to further customize your diet depending upon your physical condition. In most cases, I refine the diet manually and provide you with a diet structure to lose weight or just be healthier.

Some clients have:

Ample weightloss

Stopped seizures

Eliminated Migraine Headaches

Improved their mood

Improved their digestion and assimilation of nutrition

Improved skin conditions and complexion

Became more energetic and focused

Remember “Diet Rules” and is “Foundational” to your optimal health

Bottom Line:

Taking responsibility for your health IS your most important asset Take time to support your health so you can enjoy life more fully. “One ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

RECIPES:

Following are a few of my favorite recipes for making Muesli, Protein Shakes and Nut Milks. Experiment to include your own tastes – it is fun, nutritious and rewarding.

Muesli:

For muesli, just look at your GenoType for nuts, grains and fruits that are good for you. Go to Henry’s or Whole Foods and buy bag of each. I like dried apricots (cut in small pieces), sunflower seeds, stone cut oatmeal, almonds, pecans and dried cranberries. Just mix them together and put in the refrigerator. Take ½ cup and top with yogurt or make a small protein shake and pour on top. Yum.

Protein Shakes:

I have two favorites. One is the Glycemic Foundation Rice Protein Powder which has 11 grams of fiber and 10 grams of protein. The other is a Rice Protein Powder as well, but has 6 grams of fiber and 21 grams of protein and it has a few ingredients to help detox the liver – always a great idea. I use both and sell both. Most of the protein powders in the markets have been hydrolyzed, which makes the powder act like MSG on the brain. When I did my research, if it did not say on the container, I emailed the manufacturer and many were proud to say that yes they used that process. They really need to do their homework better.

I mix one scoop of protein powder with water and frozen raspberries and sometimes I add more fiber like ground Chia Seeds or Galactan. Just pour some over the muesli – very healthy and nutritious.

Nut Milks:

Any of the nut milks can be made by placing 1 cup of raw almonds or other nuts in a blender, add 1 cup of clean water and blend well. Add 3 more cups of water and then put in the refrigerator for 8 hours. Strain to remove the nuts – or not and then you can add stevia or xylitol to sweeten and/or add a few drops of almond extract if you wish. Compare the ingredients to store bought brands. This is a winner.

Redefining Stress AND Our Life…

When someone asks you if you are stressed, what do you say? You will probably reply regarding the emotional stress in your life.

Yet, there is much more to stress than emotional….. Think about it. What about your physical stress? The reason I am discussing this is because when I do a saliva test on my clients I usually see adrenal stress in 95% of the cases. When my clients fill in their intake questionnaires, I see stress in many systems of their body. The endocrine (hormones), digestive, blood sugar, and emotional systems are the top three stressors.

There are other physical stressors as well:

  • Living in a toxic world leaves our body stressed. Detoxifying on a regular basis is a must.
  • Emotions stress our brain causing lack of focus, depression and anxiety.
  • Adrenals are usually fatigued. No energy.
  • Blood sugar imbalances create weight gain.
  • Digestive upset and creates lack of absorption.
  • Hormones create upset on many levels.
  • Teeth stress the body and organ systems they are connected to.
  • Lack of quality sleep can cause fatigue and other issues. According to the body clock, your adrenals go through a healing period from 9 – 11 pm, which is the time we need to be asleep to facilitate healing the body.

We live in a stressful world:

There are high demands on our time, often leaving us no time to “play” or take time for ourselves. AND, if we do take time, well, we feel guilty. Hmmm, why is that? What is missing? Some of my clients report they feel as though they live in a hamster wheel.

Families are really stressed:

Moms and dads are running kids around to so many competitive sports activities. I remember my brothers having one sport activity a week – during sports season. The rest of the year they did creative projects like learning to build things, helping their parent’s plant gardens, taking music lessons or just simply playing in the neighborhood with their friends.

Fast Food Creates Stress:

Years ago, when counseled parents, the moms said that they only had time to stop by fast food restaurants for dinner. There is little food value in fast foods, not to mention the preservatives, excessive salt, trans -fats, sugar and who knows what else in the foods. Without proper nutrients our children are overstressed.

Homework Stress:

Then there is the homework schedule. When we were kids, and when my children were in school, we/they were expected to “know how” to do the homework. But now parents have to walk through each homework assignment with each child and then sign off the assignment. I think this “robs” the child of learning personal responsibility and the feeling of personal attainment, healthy self confidence and pride.

Homework time is incredibly STRESSFUL for the child and creates stress for the parents. No wonder there isn’t time to prepare dinner. By the time all this is accomplished in the evening, everyone’s nerves are frayed, parents and children are tired and cranky and it is time for bed – which also takes a while.

So when do the parents get their time? They often don’t! And we wonder why the divorce rate is so high.

All of this needs to change. My suggestion would be for the children to complete their homework in school, and have one half hour of reading at night only. Parents need to unite over this to change the system to work for their family. Talk to the schools, your congressmen/women and the PTA, etc., to create a change that supports personal responsibility for your children as well as quality time for your family. In some states and counties this issue is being seriously discussed. This would establish valuable family time for sharing, game playing, making things, – just being a family. What a concept.

Life stages can be stressful:

It doesn’t matter whether you are single, married, retiring or elderly – stress can be there and depression/anxiety takes its toll. Financial stress also plays a huge part in our lives today. Unity is needed. Reaching out, being thoughtful and including others eliminates stress, yet we have to create this for ourselves as well.

Worldly Examples:

When I read about the European culture and their shorter work hours, shorter amount of weeks they work per year, their nap schedules, etc., I think that we need to take a step back and think about how we can attain that for ourselves.

Many cultures have a lower mortality rates than the U.S. A. where our rank is around 30 for mortality – astounding. This is serious. We really need to regroup. We can learn from other cultures, and we can redefine our priorities.

Think about it. You have ONE life to live – ONE – right now. You don’t get the days back:

  • What would you like your life to look like?
  • What can you do to create a more relaxed and happy lifestyle?
  • Write it down – make a list and make a plan for yourself and for your family.
  • Ask your family and friends what they are doing to remove stress.
  • Set an intention and take steps to attain a less stressful life.
  • You may have to “give yourself permission” to take time for yourself.
  • And, most importantly – take time to celebrate and relax – You deserve it!

Stay Healthy with Preventive Care!

Prevention Vs. Being Sick:

Preventive Care will not only support your health, but helps save you lost time, undue stress and money.

Most clients seek a practitioner when something is out of balance with their health. What about staying healthy so that does NOT happen? I know, we are not conditioned that way, YET this does not mean that we need to stay ignorant to the fact that our health IS our MOST important asset. When we are sick, we lose wages, become depressed, anxious, exhausted and more.

Create A Daily Wellness Plan:

There are many preventive measures you can take to stay healthy:

Drinking ½ your weight in ounces of water, herbal tea, organic coffee if it is on your genotype, fermented drinks and water with lemon or lime and stevia. Your blood is 70% water, so your blood becomes thick when you do not drink enough. Think heart issues! Adequate liquids improves conductivity of your cells. Think communication! Without adequate water, herbal teas or fermented foods, this equals dehydration AND NO conductivity.

Fiber: We need 25 – 50% of fiber to support us in the elimination of toxins and healthy bowel movements. We live in an amazingly toxic world.

Detox: Drink lemon or lime water with stevia first thing in the morning. Do a Whole Body Detox once time per year. We live in a toxic world, so it is important to continually detox using the basic principals on this page.

Genetic Typing: Which foods support you in boosting your immune system and metabolism? We are all unique and one diet does NOT fit all. I evaluate my clients on their first visit and provide them with a list of the optimal foods for their genetic type.

Healthy supplementation: Most supplements have magnesium stearate or titanium dioxide under “other ingredients.” These coat your intestines to make a biofilm so your absorption is decreased. I sell high quality supplements and give my clients a 10% discount. Remember minerals are the “spark plugs” of your body ~ and we no longer get enough due to depleted soils. I have a tower garden, which I also sell, AND I really think everyone should have one. Organic seeds grown hydroponically result in nutrition right from your our tower garden. No soil to mess with AND it is fun as well as vitally nutritious. Food loses vital nutrients from the first day they are picked. See: http://naturalhealthctr.towergarden.com

Exercise: Surprisingly over exercise depletes your adrenal glands. Moderate exercise is best, including walking. It is best exercises is to sprint for 1 minute, then walk for 4 minutes. Do this 4 times and you have boosted your immune system and metabolism effectively. Takes just 20 minutes a day. Simple hand weight rotations helps with bone density.

Stretching: is a good alternative to exercise if the weather is inclement and really aids in moving your lymph to cleanse your body.

Deep Breathing: Helps move your lymph and oxygenates your blood and keeps you energetic and focused.

Emotions: Do what you can to stay positively focused. Stress and negative emotions change a healthy pH to an unhealthy one in minutes. AND, stress is responsible for 85% of all sickness.

Live “Optimally:” We only live once – that we really know about. So why would you choose to be less than you are capable of being. Do fun things daily; have passions. Make quality time for yourself. Expect others to treat you well and when they don’t, leave the friendship as it is another form of toxicity you do NOT need. Learn from your mistakes and don’t judge yourself or others. Self-forgiveness works!

WATER - Vital to Your Health

This is more of a reminder than a recipe. Drink ½ your weight in ounces of water a day.

Do you know that your blood is 70% water? Not enough water and your blood can become sludgy – lots of health implications. Water also helps to conduct electricity in your body…and so much more.

Many clients say they simply don’t like drinking water or ask how to drink that much water? Our world is becoming more toxic and it is important to flush these toxins out of our body on a continual basis. Eating vegetables and fruits with high water content counts as part of your water intake and fiber is important as well.

Drinking enough fluids each day is recommended as follows:

Upon arising fill a 16 oz. mug with water and add the juice of two small limes or ½ a lemon and a packet of stevia or xylitol and drink while getting ready for your day. (I have Birch derived Xylitol ) You have been dehydrated all night so this is very easy to do. Lemon and Lime cleanse the liver and detox organs, so it is a great way to start the day. An option is to add 1 Tbsp of Raw Apple Cider Vinegar with a packet of stevia.

Breakfast: Drink no more than ¼ cup of liquid with each of your meals for proper digestion. Breakfast can be a smoothie. I like the Metabolic Detox Rice Protein shake. It is a full complement of nutrients, herbs and fiber to support the liver and organs of detoxification. Add ½ cup frozen organic raspberries or blueberries from Trader’s, 2 cups of water, 2 Tbsp. of Chia Seeds and a packet of Stevia. 1/3 banana can be added for creaminess. Use fruits on your Genetic type.

Have another 16 oz. of liquid mid morning. Always wait 2 hours after eating to drink liquids for proper digestion of your food. Drink suggestions are herbal teas. Try lemon, raspberry, black cherry, detox teas, green teas for variety which are great iced or hot. Try herbal coffees (caffeine dries out your skin!). Or you can try decaf coffee – yet remember it is also acidic. A great coffee alternative is Teeccino, which comes in many flavors. Mint Chocolate is my favorite. Teeccino is alkaline and is a combination of fruits, herbs and grains. You can also select a green drink, which is refreshing and alkalinizing as well. I have wonderful fermented one in stock. Juicing your favorite vegetables with a little fruit, having Kefir or Kambucha are other alternatives.

Lunch can be your favorite lunch or a smoothie.

Early afternoon and late afternoon: drink two additional 16 oz. of your favorite drink. Vary it to keep it interesting and easy to accomplish. Jasmine Green Tea is another favorite of mine.

Have dinner.

Two hours after dinner have a relaxing tea: Chamomile or Sleepy Time Tea is a great choice to wind down your day.

The above would be five 16 oz. cups of liquid. More would come from your food or from smoothies or shakes – it all counts. This would be 80 oz. of liquid, enough for a 160 lb. person. If you require more or less you can adjust accordingly.

Water is critical for controlling weight and in keeping your body clean and properly hydrated.

What is a Naturopath?

Naturopathy is a system which emphasizes prevention and the self-healing process combined with the use natural therapies – just the way nature intended.

Naturopaths blend centuries-old knowledge and a philosophy that nature is the most effective healer with current research on health systems. Focus is on identifying the underlying cause of disease, using complementary medicine, clinical nutrition, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, psychology, energy medicine, spirituality and working with the whole mind/body/spirit. AND, we take time to listen.

Principles defining Naturopathy

First, do no harm

Cooperate with the Healing Powers of Nature

Address the fundamental cause of Disease

Work with the whole person through individualized treatment

Teach the principles of healthy living and preventative medicine

Wellness

Wellness is a state of being healthy, characterized by positive emotion, thought and action. Wellness is inherent in everyone, regardless of disease(s). If wellness is recognized and experienced by an individual, they will more quickly heal a given disease than direct treatment of the disease alone.

My Practice

I definitely inherited my predisposition for natural health. My dad had a natural knowing of healing. At 14, I was able to figure out that his terrible rash on his arms was from his daily use of black tea. I had blemishes one teenage year that the doctors could not figure out. I realized that my body could not handle some allergy or toxin effectively and is was coming out my skin. I drank more liquid, stopped drinking milk and viola – blemishes gone.

I think our avocation is inherent and finds us. After spending 20 years in the computer industry I quit and went to grad school for Clinical Psychology with a spiritual influence and practiced for 14 years. This was overlapped early on with trainings in Neurofeedback and Biofeedback, Naturopathy, Clinical Nutrition and German Energy Medicine / BioResonance. For the past twenty years my practice has been focused on Naturopathy offering many modalities. For me it was important to learn the psychology and applied spirituality first, then Naturopathy. And now I absolutely love what I do.

Which Fruits and Veges

Forty three fruits and vegetables were evaluated by http://www.ewg.org This is a great site to search for chemicals that are in all products we use including cosmetics.

They reported that the following 12 fruits and vegetables had the highest pesticide load and therefore should be purchased organic for your safety:

Apples

Peaches

Sweet bell peppers

Celery

Nectarines

Strawberries

Cherries

Lettuce

Grapes (imported)

Pears

Spinach

Potatoes

The great news is that the following had the lowest pesticide load making them safe to purchase non-organic:

Eggplant

Broccoli

Cabbage

Banana

Kiwi

Asparagus

Sweet peas (frozen)

Mango

Pineapple

Sweet corn (frozen)

Avocado

Onion

It is still preferable to purchase your products from farmer’s markets grown locally. But ask if this is true. At one local farm I shop at, they import from Mexico, so who knows whether they are truly organic or not and if they are irradiated, as is often the case, when produce crosses the border. So ASK.

Grass-fed beef can be purchased at many of these farmer’s markets as well. Trader’s is now carrying grass-fed hamburger in the fresh and frozen section and recently added grass-fed steak. Both have higher Omega 3 than fish! I often buy from http://www.texasgrassfedbeef.com as well. I tried a new fish that is reportedly the lowest in mercury – try Barramundi. Fabulous taste – a new favorite of mine. Whole Foods carries it in their frozen section.

An increasing number of people are planting gardens. It can be fun, especially if you have children or grandchildren. I just purchased a towergarden and am thrilled that in two weeks I have some plants growing. It is always exciting to grow food. See the pictures at the right of my towergarden. http://www.nanceysavinelli.towergarden.com is my site for obtaining more information about purchasing one. I will keep you posted on the progress. It is fun and easy.

Produce picked fresh has its nutrient value intact. Remember, that each day the plant is off the roots, the value diminishes greatly and therefore we get less nutrition. A few days can equal 50 % degradation in the value of nutrients.

In 1905, brix readings were done on fruit and vegetables to evaluate their nutritional content. Today it would take 50 peaches to equal the nutrition of one in 1905. Are we overeating in an attempt to get adequate nutrition? I think so. So when buying seeds to grow, select organic heirloom if you can, which equals more nutrition and produces a healthier plant to eat. The reward is a healthier You!

Spring is here finally – Enjoy!

Who is living longer?

The reports are that we are living longer. Yes, the generation that ate as I did are living longer IF they continued to eat and drink healthily. The reports are saying that the pre-prepared, fast food generation will not live as long. This is sad – yet very understandable. So now is the time to get our health back – now.

My father-in-law is 105 – always ate real food – no prepared foods, and drinks one glass of wine a night. They lived by themselves until three years ago. My mother-in-law was 95 when she passed away. Real food – that’s the key.

It is so much healthier and you eat less and have more vitamins, minerals and nutrients in your food. And you feel better – what a concept.

Cooking can de-stress you and while the food is cooking you can do other things as well – like get the homework/housework started or sit and relax. I vote for relaxing in whatever fashion you desire.

Shop at the local farmer’s markets where the veges and fruits have 300% more nutrients. Buy grass fed meats – where the animals are honored and they eat what they are supposed to; not things to fatten them up and therefore they fatten us up as well. Grass fed beef has more omega 3 than fish and no mercury. www.texasgrassfedbeef.com is a great source. Look on the web, then call Ted to order.

So here are some examples of what to get OUT of your diet:

Lowfat or Lite anything: Muffins, milk, ice cream. Look at the calories, the carbs, substitutions, the sugar, the make believe sugar, the bleached flour. When you eat the real food – as nature intended – it is burned more efficiently in your body. Eat the real food.

Soy: The only safe soy is fermented IF and only IF it is organic – not GMO. (genetically modified) Soy is the most genetically modified product and therefore it is resistant to Roundup, and anything that is sprayed on it. It cannot be washed away – you eat it. Unfermented soy disables your main minerals, affects your thyroid and brain and more. And it is estrogenic – no wonder most men don’t like it.

Energy Bars: I know you are in a rush – that is why you are stressed, possibly have high blood pressure, and anxiety disorders. Let’s add more empty calories. Now there are a few bars that are not laden with soy or fake sugars, chemicals you cannot pronounce, or other allergic foods, but good luck in trying to find them, yet they should not be your mainstay each day. Take along some nuts or a piece of fruit or some dried fruits not soaked in sulphur…

Caffeine: There is much controversy around caffeine. Green Tea is very beneficial, coffee can be in moderation if it is on your GenoType Diet. The key is moderation as well. A cup used to be 8 oz. Now people order 16 or 24 ounces and Starbucks has more caffeine than most other kinds I know of. Most decaf has problems due to the processing.

Sugar Substitutes: No Agave – high fructose! Natural organic sugar is better! No aspartame, NutraSweet, Splenda, Sweet-n-Low, or other make believe sugars. The safe ones are real Stevia – there is a new make- believe one on the market by another name – stay away. Xylitol is great – it fights bacteria, is reported to boost your immune system, yet it should come from trees and not corn. There they go messing with the original design again. Many people are naturally allergic to corn anyway. Another is Lo Han Sho that is safe and natural – not my favorite, but many love it.

Flavored, Enhanced Vitamin Waters: Wow! What a concept. Let’s drink imitation vitamins in water with color added. We have been brainwashed. How can this be good for you???

Grains – too many: Gluten has been increased and enhanced in the grains reported to be anywhere from 2 – 5 times the normal amount. Gluten/gliaden intolerance is up 30% just in the tests I am seeing. You mess with your intestines and you are messing with your absorption, then you get leaky gut, then you get brain fog and overwhelm – and you wonder why. You just don’t know – nobody tells us that they are looking out for us by altering our natural food supply.

Cereals: Yes, I know your children and possibly you love the sugary cereals with milk. How about rethinking the box and the formed and processed cereals inside. Time for the garbage can! Eat or make muesli or healthy raw oatmeal. You can make almond milk easily as well – and muesli -see next topic. And there are many options for breakfast.

Milk: It does a body good – or used to at least. We purchased milk from our local dairy – whole raw milk. Then homogenization and pasteurization came in. My dad wasMAD. Guess I take after him. Do you know that if your own mother’s milk was pasteurized and homogenized that, as a baby, you would not thrive and possibly would die? That is what happened when they did this experiment on baby cows. The raw milk is a live vital food, just like mother’s milk and it has the good bacteria that will take care of any bad bacteria. So if you do milk – and most people over three should NOT, then it should be RAW. See making nut milks above.

Acid / Alkaline: We need to be neutral. Too much acid or alkaline equals sickness – just pick a disease. When a swimming pool or fish tank is out of pH balance you see what happens – well it happens to you too. So eat your veges – lots of them, a little fruit – berries are great, a little meat and fish, a little starch and ditch the sweets. Cow’s milk and cow’s milk products are acid; goat’s milk and goat’s milk products (cheeses) are alkaline. Time to switch – get goat cheeses instead. Cheeses are fermented and safer than milk.

Bees: a side issue. With so many chemicals sprayed on our growing foods, the bees are ingesting this and it is making them sick and it is reported that there are less of them. Then there are the cell towers. If the growing fields are near the cell or electrical towers, the bees cannot find their way home – they get confused and lost. If the bees go, what is going to pollinate our foods? – bees are a critical part is our living on this planet.

Processed Meats: They have nitrates and tons of salt and some fillers. They equal headaches, weight gain and frustration. Best to cook a turkey and store it in the freezer and use real food instead. Or any other cooked meat will do for a healthy sandwich with healthy bread or better yet, put it on a large salad.

Supplements: About ½ the supplements that my clients bring in to test, test poorly. Many contain magnesium stearate or titanium dioxide listed under “other ingredients”. These make a biofilm in your intestines so you do not absorb your food. Not good…. Best to select natural whole food supplements, herbal, homeopathic formulations or healthy protein powders that are not so adulterated that they are detrimental. I have great supplements in my office – researched over the past 15 years to help you balance your health. AND soon they will be on my website. A report out of UC Irvine, by Dr. Darryl See, Endocrinologist did a test on over 200 supplements and found over 97% toxic to some degree.

Eliminate Foods with High-Fructose corn syrup, deep fried foods, processed foods, additives, preservatives, food colorings, artificial flavorings, MSG, fat substitutes, chemicals in foods, and anything else that is not naturally grown or raised in a clean environment.

So, Eat: Whole Real, Fresh, Organic, Unprocessed Food. Eat plenty of veges, some fruit – lots of color with both, Foods with plenty of fiber, and foods high in Omega 3 fatty acids (free range meats and safe fish), clean water, alkaline/acid balanced foods for health AND relax more.
